FMI survey shows consumers lack confidence in food safety

Consumer confidence in the safety of the food supply has been hit hard by recent high-profile foodbome illness outbreaks, according to a Food Marketing Institute survey of grocery shopper trends. The annual survey, conducted in January and released earlier this month, polled 2,307 consumers for their opinions on safety issues, the healthfulness of their diets and their shopping habits, among other things.
