This article summarizes 4 workshop presentations (all longitudinal studies). The first 2 presentations examines the effects of in utero environment (e.g., amniotic fluid), breast feeding, and feeding habits of the family on early development of food preferences. The remaining 2 discusses the relationship between early feeding and weight status, and the long-term influence of sensory learning (for tastes or flavour) on lasting food preferences and feeding habits..
