摘要

Matthew Holmes, managing director of the Organic Trade Association's Canadian office, in Sackville, New Brunswick, doesn't mince words when describing the significance of the organic equivalency agreement recently signed by the USDA and Canadian Food Inspection Agency (see FCN June 22, Page 1). "The Government of Canada has just secured nearly unfettered access for Canadian organic farmers and food processors to a market that is over 10 times the size of our own," he says in a June 19 press release. "This is a major win for Canada's quickly-growing organic sector, and provides our producers and processors with assurances that they are competing with a level playing field," he adds.
