Colombia and Ecuador have joined other nations in imposing temporary restrictions on imports of raw or processed chicken meat from the state of Kentucky (see FCN April 13, Page 25).Sanitation officials in both countries are on constant high alert due to threats posed by migrating birds and neighboring nations with lax sanitation controls. "We have implemented an aggressive vigilance program that allows us to seek out potential areas of exposure rather than just waiting for the disease to come back and haunt us," says Colombian Agriculture minister Andres Felipe Arias.
