Kenya is currently the leading supplier of cut flowers to the European Union (EU) with a 25% market share, a position retained since 2000 after edging out Columbia and Israel, now ranked the second and third largest.The flower sector also accounts for 10% of agricultures' total contribution to Kenya's gross domestic product (GDP) and predicted to rise, while also providing employment to nearly 500,000 persons. This is a very creditable result considering that mostother sectors of Kenya's economy are stagnating or declining.
