From chewing gum to chocolate and every sweet treat in between, candy is, well, a treat. Across the United States, more than 123 million households purchase some form of candy each year. As National Confectioners Association (NCA) President J.J. Downs, Jr. told attendees at the 2015 Sweets & Snacks Expo, "Most people in the United States enjoy candy about twice per week." There's no denying that Americans love their candy. But there's also no denying Americans' growing desire for healthier foods ...including candy.
