摘要

In early February, 2012, a pair of Red-shouldered Hawks (Buteo lineatus) began constructing a nest in a residential area of Halifax Plantation, Ormond Beach, Volusia County, Florida. The nest was located among the palm fronds in the middle of three Washington (or Mexican Fan) Palms (Washingtonia robusta) up to 10 m tall. The palms are planted in a triangular pattern, approximately 1 m from each other. The trees are between two driveways (within 3 m of each) and a sidewalk, approximately 4 m from the street (Fig. 1).
