摘要

While vacuum or modified atmosphere packaging materials (made from polyethylene or other plastic-based materials) can improve the stability and safety of raw or processed foods, increased use of synthetic packaging films has led to ecological problems. As such, consumers are demanding more environmentally friendly packaging, that natural products be made of bio-based materials, and for these materials to be easily bio-degradable and/or recyclable.
