The fruit industry has been through a difficult time in recent years. Changing weather conditions, environmental concerns and the continued strain on the economy all jump to mind as potential challenges. But do we really know what the big issues are? To answer this, Sharpak Aylesham conducted a survey at the recent event Fruit Focus 2013. Given the recent pressure the sector has been under it is easy to assume what answers would be. Interestingly, the main response was not the weather or a demand for lower pricing, but a need for innovation.
