Giovanni Sirtori Laviosa is the new president of Amafond, the Italian association for companies producing machinery, plant, furnaces and products for foundries. Fonderia (Foundry) magazine interviewed the new president who was elected last spring, the following is a summary of some of the points he made. Amafond is the Italian association for foundry suppliers and the association's aim is to represent its members in relation to other professional associations in the mechanical engineering industry such as ASSOFOND and ASSOMET.The aim of the association is to create the conditions to develop a group culture by promoting a code of behaviour between associations based on transparency and continually making information available. We want to contribute to the creation of quality standards for products offered by our associates and confirm an image of their industrial activity as respecting people and the environment. Over the last few years in a context of competitive development Amafond has tried to encourage the development and distribution of knowledge and expertise among associates which translates into improved machinery and products both for foundry of ferrous metals and light alloys. It is the task of the Association to constantly evaluate and improve what our embers have to offer in human and cultural terms as well as technological, in order to maintain our advantage over our competitors.
