A solvothermal route to wurtzite ZnSe nanoparticles

Zinc powder reacts with equivalent elementalselenium in solvent ethylenediamine at 120 deg C for 6 h toform a complex, which is converted to ZnSe nanoparticles bypyrolysis or protonization. X-ray diffraction results suggest thatthe as-formed products have wurtzite structure. Transmissionelectron microscopy observation show that particles withspherical and laminar morphology were produced by pyrolysisand protonization, respectively. The formation of ZnSenanoparticles is also investigated by infrared and thermal analysis.
