摘要

The project studied the conditions of pouring and feeding of spheroidal graphite (SG) cast irons with allowance for graphitic expansion during cooling. Tests were carried out in an experimental foundry to evaluate the effectiveness of feeding by pressure control. Numerical simulations were performed in parallel to understand the mechanisms of cooling of SG cast irons. Various foundry parameters were studied, among them the thickness of the castings, the level of magnesium, the pouring temperature, and the dimensions of the feeders and feeder necks.
