Janes Family Foods first installed a carton erector and carton sealer at its chicken processing and packaging plant in North York,Ontario,which helped to double production and trim labour costs by half.That led to the purchase of two more HS 2/60 double-head lock carton formers and two Compact 3 sealers to pack chicken,seafood and vegetables at its Concord,Ontario,headquarters plant.All machines were manufactured by Bradman-Lake Inc at Charlotte,NC."Previously,we set up pre-glued cartons by hand.Six operators put a plastic bag of frozen chicken pieces into each carton and closed it before shrink wrapping or tape sealing.Now we need just three," says Mr Leonard Cole,North York's plant manager.
