Dear Editor,Wread with interest the report of Schweitzer et al. in W the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology. We also recently described a patient with oculoleptomeningeal amyloidosis who had a point mutation in the transthyretin gene (TTR). As with the patients in most reports, our patient presented with what appeared to be vitreous inflammation. This was later diagnosed as amyloidosis when the distinctive "apple green" birefringence was found under polarized light following staining of the vitrectomy specimen with Congo Red.
