Canadian Uphthalmological society evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for cataract surgery in the adult eye

Introduction:The development of these guidelines was initiated by the Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS) Board of Directors, who felt that the time was appropriate for Canadian clinical practice guidelines on the provision of eye care and cataract surgery within the Canadian health care context and based on the best evidence in the literature and expert opinion. Subsequently, the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) encouraged all medical specialty organizations to develop Canadian clinical practice guidelines that could be used to help justify patterns of practice, as efforts were being undertaken to shorten wait times for a variety of procedures, including cataract surgery.
