NISSA Centre of Russia held a print seminar in late May organised as a boat trip on Moscow River, "The Russian graphic arts market is far from being in perfect shape," says Mikhail Kuvshinov, Strategy and Marketing Director of NISSA Centre. "Apart from the global economic crisis, there are other specific reasons, such as customs tax for paper and board and the difficulty of customs operations for printed material. Despite these negative factors, the Russian carton industry is quite strong. Domestic printers do have one advantage in the global market due to the devaluation of Ruble, though it is not always easy to compete with products from the Asian market. With brand owners switching from premium class packaging to budget pricing, Russian companies need the right equipment to produce competitively priced packaging solutions while maintaining high quality. That's why we organised this event."
