Fluid power manufacturers constantly look for new ways to improve productivity and reduce costs while maintaining product quality. Toward that end, fluid power design engineers are increasingly turning to continuous cast ductile iron bar stock as an alternative to steel when product performance and reducing production costs are both critically important. Ductile iron has similar strength to plain carbon and free machining steels but offers extended tool life, faster cycle times, better chip removal during deep-hole drilling operations and possibly even elimination of the need to debur.
