For many years, growers in the Euregion area on the German and on the Dutch side of the border have wanted to come to one strong marketplace. Until the start of Veiling Rhein-Maas three auctions were active within a 15 km distance: the potted plant auction in Liillingen, the auction of Landgard in Herungen (formerly Straelen and Neuss) and the auction of FloraHolland in Venlo (formerly Grubbenvorst). The local area itself boosts the most important reason behind this joint venture — the drive to concentrate supply in the Euregion area. Costs can be reduced by having a single large floriculture clock — not just in business operations, but equally in the supply chain, from the perspectives of both suppliers and buyers in the floriculture cluster.
