Hoboken's Joel Lefkowitz steps down; CEO named

Hoboken Floors, the largest U.S. distributor, announced that Joel Lefkowitz has stepped down as chief executive of Hoboken Floors. Mark Steele has been named the company's new chief executive officer, effective immediately. The recent change in management comes just two months after Ira Lefkowitz resigned his post as president of Hoboken Floors (FCW, July 2-6). Chicago-based private-equity firm Code Hennessy & Simmons, which acquired Hoboken in May 2005, declined to comment on the executive restructuring. "Mark is an outstanding professional manager and a successful leader with broad and deep sales and operations management expertise with more than two decades of experience helping businesses thrive," said Craig Dean, chairman of Hoboken Wood Flooring. "Mark is just the type of executive we need right now to help us improve our financial performance and grow the business in the future. His appointment is a key step in our business restructuring, which we plan to complete during the fourth quarter."
