Leisure time during Surfaces sounds like an impossible dream for the busy flooring retailer who makes the annual trek to Las Vegas. Yet, amid the hustle and bustle, some free moments do materialize. Dealers like Ron Katz love to seize that opportunity. For years, he had the answer to scoring a quiet moment - dining in the kitchen of Emeril's New Orleans Fish House at the MGM Grand. (Yes, the kitchen.) "Over the years, I've become friendly with the general manager," said Katz, president of Mineola, N.Y.-based Harry Katz Carpet One. If the VIP treatment isn't your thing, then there's the old standby: Vegas' famous buffets, which offer tourists more bite for their buck. For a cheap meal, head over to the Surf Buffet at the Boardwalk (13.99 dollars for dinner), open 24 hours. Another inexpensive, all-you-can-eat option is the Circus Buffet at Circus Circus (10.99 dollars for dinner).
