Flexible rubber and plastic grid tested in Hirtshals tank. A lightweight rubber and plastic flexible selection grid for bottom trawls has been approved for use in Norwegian waters after nearly four years of testing, says inventor Snorre Angell of Sin-tef Fisheries Technology. Speaking while demonstrating his grid at Sintefs North Sea Centre Flume Tank in Hirtshals, Denmark, the Flexi-grid system has shown good selectivity in keeping small fish out of the codend during sea trials in a variety of groundfish fleets.
