According to an executive at Indian soda ash producer GHCL, it is anticipated that with a further rise in economic growth, soda ash demand growth will continue amidst a local market projected to expand from the current 3.3 M tonnes to 4 M tonnes in 2019. The market will witness growth in the detergent (FMCG growth and penetration) and glass (automobiles and construction) sectors. GHCL is allocating Rup 1.5 bn (c ?20.4 M) to its textiles segment and Rup 3.5 bn to its soda ash division, for a total investment of Rup 5.0 bn in the next 2-3 years.
