Following the announcement that Reuben Mark is to step down as its chief executive, Colgate-Palmolive reported a 12% increase in profits to 1.65 bn in 2006. Sales of 12.2 bn were split between oral care (39%), personal care (24%), home care (23.5%), and pet nutrition (13.5%) products in 2006. For 4Q 2006, worldwide sales grew 10.5% to 3.21 bn with unit volume up 7%, while net income was 401.2 M (361.2 M in 4Q 2005). The end of the quarter also saw the sale of Colgate's household bleach business in Canada to Clorox for an after-tax gain of 38.2 M, which was entirely offset by restructuring charges.
