News focus: US, Europe producers cut prices in response to competition

Asian sellers are exporting more low-priced epoxy resins to Europe and the US because of long supply and weak demand in Asia. As a result of these epoxy resins, spot and contract prices in Europe and the US have been decreased to keep competition at bay. US domestic contract prices in Aug 2013 were assessed at $1.38-1.46/lb on a delivered (DEL) bulk basis, which decreased by 6 cents/lb. US spot prices also dropped to $1.33-1.38/lb DEL bulk, which was down by 2 cents/lb. Huntsman, Momentive Specialty Chemicals and Dow Chemical are the primary epoxy resins makers in the US.
