Cognis reports strong sales growth of 7.1% in 1Q 2008

For its 1Q 2008(period ends 31 Mar 2008),the Cognis Group increased its net external sales to euro 953 M,up 7.1% compared with 1Q 2007.Adjusted EBITDA was euro 109 M,down 1.9% due to increased costs and unfavourable currency effects,but net profit was up about 12% to euro 10 M.Cognis'Care Chemicals business unit reported sales of euro 398 M for 1Q 2008(euro 363 M for 1Q 2007).
