Environmental Waste International Inc (EWI) opened its pilot plant for recovering carbon black and other marketable products from scrap tyres towards the end of May 2013. The plant is located at Sault Sainte Marie (800 km west of Ottawa) and it employs EWI's patented "TR-900 reverse polymerisation" technology. (See also 'Focus on Pigments', Jul 2013,4).
