Stahl completes purchase of Clariant's leather chemicals business

Stahl Holdings BV (headquartered in Waalwijk, Netherlands) completed the acquisition of Clariant's leather chemicals business on 30 April 2014. Clariant received about $94.5 M cash plus a 23% shareholding in Stahl. (This was substantially higher than the figure quoted in 'Focus on Pigments', Apr 2014, 5). According to Stahl, the total consideration paid represented 7.5 times earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) for Clariant's leather chemicals business.
