SMITHERS RAPRA'S MONTREAL FORUM COVERS A WIDE SPECTRUM OF ACTIVITY ACROSS VARIOUS APPLICATIONS, REGIONS, & PIGMENT TYPES

The previous Smithers Rapra Pigment & Colour Science Forum held in Rome in October 2013 attracted about 90 delegates (Ref 1). The previous Smithers Rapra TiO2 World Summit held in Barcelona in May 2013 attracted about 130 delegates (Ref 2). This year, the two events were co-located in Montreal and there were more than 240 people in the audience (Ref 3). The venue was the spacious Hotel Le Westin, near the city-centre, the Palais-de-Cong res and the Notre Dame Basilica. Many executives from paint, plastic, paper or cosmetics companies, as well as executives from companies supplying equipment (such as pumps, micronisers, pipelines, filters or bagging machines) or services (such as shipping or logistics) clearly appreciated the concept of seeing all the pigment manufacturers under one roof! The scope for networking and exchanging ideas and information was obviously wider too. The co-located conferences featured quite a packed programme, with 45 different presentations, each followed by an informative question-and-answer session. The Smithers Rapra team, headed by Mr Andrew Smaha, did an excellent job ensuring the smooth running of the event.
