摘要

Cracking of physical vapour deposited (PVD) films on dissimilar substrates can be a problem in many systems with the end products becoming unusable. There are other problems with PVD films: they are very thin and often relatively porous, which seriously impairs their corrosion resistance; and a further fault is the inability of PVD films to level the surface of a substrate. Unless the surface is given an expensive polishing treatment before PVD, the substrate will not have a glossy finish after PVD is applied.
