The calcareous soils are deficient in boron content. Its deficiency affects yield of different field crops. To study the effect of boron application on yield of pea and black gram, field experiments were conducted in sandy loam calcareous and black gram, field experiments were conducted in sandy loam calcareous soil of eastern Uttar Pradesh. The different levels of boron were 0, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 kg borax/ha. The application of boron increased the grain yield of pea and black gram significantly. The maximum grain yield of both the crops was obtained at 4.0 kg borax/ha. The yield of pea and black gram was 18.35 q/ha and 16.26 q/ha, respectively. The study revealed that borax application is necessary to obtain higher yields of pulses in calcareous soils.
