摘要

Medium temperature shift copper based catalyst is a feature of low energy ammonia plants. The catalyst is highly active at comparatively low temperature but susceptible to sulphur and chloride poisoning. Moisture resistance is also a critical property as it is operated close to the process gas dew point. Interesting observations have been made regarding the change in activity and strength of the catalyst with time.Pre-reformer acts as a guard to primary reformer, thereby increasing its life.It also provides greater flexibility in terms of CO_2 and ammonia balance, by making it possible to introduce natural gas and naphtha mixed feed.
