EU and EIB seek to increase farmer finance

The European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB) have jointly proposed a model guarantee instru- ment to ease farmers’ access to fnancing. A lack of cash fow at farm level is an issue across much of Europe and has impacted fertilizer trade. The model, which can be adapted by individual member states, is a tool to help secure loans for investments in farm performance, processing and other areas.
