Ex-Ford chief at the helm of BHP Billiton

Don Angus retired as chairman and nonexecutive director of BHP Billiton on 30 March and has been succeeded by Jac Nasser, the CEO of Ford Motor Corporation between 1998 and 2001. Nasser was born in Lebanon in 1947 but is a naturalised Australian. His career with Ford spanned a total of 33 years. His stewardship of the company saw it increase its global reach, as part of a strategy to reduce Ford's reliance on North American markets, and he also sought to augment the company's car range with higher-value products, partly through the acquisition of companies like Volvo and Land Rover. Latterly, Nasser enjoyed executive positions with several companies, including One Equity Partners, the private equity arm of JP Morgan, and British Sky Broadcasting plc and Allianz AG.
