Things hot up on the S-TYPE JAGUAR PRODUCTION LINE

Following on from the success of earlier installations, a further three Heraeus infrared ovens have been supplied to the Jaguar S-type production line. The new ovens are being used to facilitate the fitting of rubber door an boot seals at the Castle Bromwich manufacturing plant. The door and boot seals are fairly and must be fitted by hand as the vehicles pass on the production line. It was realised that fitting would be easier for the operatives if the rubber seals were heated just before fitting to make them more pliable. Having previously installed a Heraeus infra-red system to assist in the heating of wiring looms prior to fitting, Jaguar engineers requested the Bromborough company to carry out tests on improving the pliability of the door and boot seals.
