A new virus strikes toad lilies

I am a fan of toad lilies (Tricyrtis spp. and cvs., USDA Hardiness Zones 4-9) for the same reasons many other gardeners are. Around midautumn, when everything else in the shade garden is looking rough, toad lilies look great. Their late, orchidlike blossoms and fleshy foliage make them a focal point in any landscape. Because I am also a nursery owner, an important part of my job is to watch out for plant diseases such as viruses. So when I noticed something strange happening to my toad lilies, I became worried about the health of this unique plant.
