YARA AND the union representing workers at its ammonia plants on Trinidad were able to complete a new three-year contract after just a three-day strike, the company said 21 January. Workers began returning to work as early as midnight January 22, and the plants were believed fully staffed when the 8 a.m. shift arrived, the company said. Industry observers suggested lost output could be around 15,000t, but Yara had not released a figure at press time.
