DEMAND FOR domestic production and imports continue to exceed the expectations of producers and traders in Brazil. In the first two months of 2008, deliveries reached 3.7m tonnes, up 23% over the same period in 2007. Imports totalled 2.7m tonnes, an increase of 21% over the same period of last year. Yet despite the increase in imports, supply is tight as demand is increasing at an unprecedented rate.
