SORFERT ALGéRIE Spa has commissioned Uhde to provide comprehensive licensing, engineering and supply services for its planned nitrogen fertilizer complex at Arzew in northwest Algeria, for which financing was arranged in April (FW Online, 18 April 2008). Sorfert had already awarded the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for the project to Uhde and Egypt's Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) Algeria, OCI's wholly owned construction subsidiary. Sorfert is a 51:49 joint venture between OCI and the Algerian state-owned oil & gas company Sonat.
