CHINA: Producers say poor weather is still causing serious problems for farmers and that as a result, buyers have not indicated what volumes they may require in the second half. Imports fell sharply in May and June, compared with April, and are set to decline further unless the market changes rapidly and fresh supply deals are agreed. Although higher year-on-year, imports have declined recently, partly because of weaker demand in China, but also because the bulk of contracted volumes were delivered during the first four months of the year. In addition, cross-border imports by rail from Russia fell in May and June due to lower prices.
