SQM, Atacama Minerals sustain no damage; aftershock at press time

SOCIEDAD QUíMICA y Minera de Chile S.A. (SQM) Monday reported that all of its production centres, including the port operations at Tocopilla, did not suffer any damage as a result of the earthquake that hit central and south Chile the morning of February 27. The earthquake epicentre was approximately 115 km northeast of the southern town of Concepcion, Chile's second largest city, and some 325 km southwest of the country's capital Santiago. It was approximately 1,600 km south of SQM's facilities, which are located in the first and second administrative regions of the country, and consequently had no effect on the company's operations.
