Foskor set to complete pyroxenite project in March

SOUTH AFRICAN phosphates producer Foskor expects to complete its R1.2 billion ($169.8 million) pyroxenite expansion project (PEP) in Phalaborwa, Limpopo on track and on budget in March 2011, the company said in its recently released 2010 annual report. The first phase of the project was the development of the new South Pyroxenite opencast mine and its associated Infrastructure (PEP 1a). The first blast at the new mine took place on 22 September 2009, much later than Foskor had anticipated. The company attributed the delay to delays in attaining three new mining licences.
