Two die, two injured in Lifeco plant fire

TWO PEOPLE were killed and two injured in a tragic accident last Sunday at the Libyan Norwegian Fertiliser Company (Lifeco) operation, a Yara 50:50 joint venture, at Marsa El Brega. Fire broke out on July 11, while production was stopped for maintenance. Production facilities at the site comprise the Brega 1 and Brega 2 ammonia and urea units. Yara said in a July 14 media statement Sunday’s fire broke out in a heat exchanger while scheduled maintenance work was taking place.
