Yara Dallol confirms Danakil potash mining potential

An independent feasibility study at Yara’s Danakil concession has confirmed significant potential to extract potash from the site in north- eastern Ethiopia, the company said in a statement. The study found that using solution mining annual production of 600,000 mt SOP over 23 years from kainite, carnalite and sylvinite reserves. Yara plans to truck potash from Danakil 790 kilometres to a product storage and handling terminal at a new port under construction in Djibouti.
