US taking another look at potash imports from BPC

The US government is expected to reexamine whether BPC should have received an exemption to a ban on exporting potash to the US, a decision that provided the company with an exemption from a long-standing ban on US companies doing business with most major Belarusian businesses. According to US industry sources and reports attached to the Obama Administration, federal officials will consider whether BPC’s applications to once again do business in the US properly established whether control of the potash producer had passed out of the hands of Alexander Lukashenko, Belarus president since 1994.
