Japanese exports climb 7.5% in 2014

Japan’s exports of sulphuric acid in 2014 were 7.5% higher than the previous year at 2.81 million mt, although volumes were still lower than 2012’s 2.86 million mt. The figures demonstrate that lower volumes to Chile were more than offset by increased tonnes to Southeast Asia. Exports to the Philippines climbed to 1.32 million mt from 791,472 mt, as Sumitomo’s Taganito nickel leaching operation ramped up operations and other sites were also running at relatively high rates. Volumes to Thailand were up to 163,649 mt from 122,835 mt.
