Manufacturing giant Bakkavor Foods has been fined 2m pounds after a worker was fatally crushed when a bale of waste plastic weighing over 700kg collapsed on him. The HSE's investigating inspector told Health and Safety at Work that Hitchen Foods, a trading name of the Bakkavor Group, failed to risk assess the stacking of bales of waste, which were placed in the factory yard in Ince, Greater Manchester, by a forklift truck.
