Brazilian fertilizer deliveries up 17%, imports 45% in 2007

BRAZILIAN OFFICIAL statistics for 2007 show that fertilizer deliveries in the country reached 24.61m tonnes last year, 17% up on those of 2006's 20.98m tonnes. Fertilizer import movement was 45% higher at 17.63m tonnes compared to 12.18m tonnes a year earlier. Import shipments increased significantly for all fertilizers. The most relevant increases were seen in ammonium nitrate (+141%), in MAP/DAP (+64%), in urea (+53%) and in TSP/SSP (+46%). Fertilizer raw material imports increased 20% to 3.89m tonnes. Import movement increased for all products except for sulphuric acid.
