Chilean imports reach near 6-year low in January

Chile’s January acid imports fell 34% year on year to 110,115 mt, the lowest monthly volume since May 2009. However, this came after a December volume of 225,269 mt, the highest monthly total since May 2014 and 32% above the previous December, suggesting that some 2015 tonnes may have arrived early. Nonetheless, Peruvian volumes for January plunged to an exceptionally low 65,031 mt, while Japan supplied only 1,443 mt.
