SOFERT ALGERIA has entered into a formal loan agreement with leading Algerian banks to finance the construction of its planned nitrogen fertilizer complex in northwest Algeria. Sofert is a 51:49 joint venture between Egypt's Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) and the Algerian state-owned oil & gas company Sonat. The debt facility is for the equivalent of some ?1.1bn ($693.2m), OCI said in an April 17 statement.
