China's January MOP imports up 51%

China imported 721,843 mt of potash in January, a 51% year-on-year increase and the highest January figure since 2009, according to GTIS data. China imported 323,355 mt (45%) from Canpotex during the month, 176,122 mt (24%) from Uralkali and 157,278 mt (22%) from BPC. It also picked up 23,060 mt from Laos producers, who are likely to increase their exports to China this year from a total of 89,957 mt in the full year 2014.
